This is a d12 system, meaning that 12 and 1 are the two opposite sides of the scale. However, it does not mean that 12 equals instance success and that 1 equals instance failure.
12. Major Success. Scoring a Major Success on a roll means you accomplish what you were setting out to do with the best result possible, and then some. With your Alder, determine what additional outcome could occur.
10 to 11. Moderate Success. Scoring a Moderate Success on a roll means you get the majority of things you wanted done, but you are not quite there yet.
9 to 8. Minor Success. Scoring a Minor Success on a roll means you have to choose out of the things you were attempting to do, which thing do you want to happen more. It may or may not work.
7 to 6. Blank. Scoring a Blank on a roll means nothing happens. It is an awkward pause, and now everyone feels awkward.
5 to 4. Minor Failure. Scoring a Minor Failure on a roll means that while you didn’t mess up completely, things could definitely become worse if you continue with what you were attempting to accomplish.
3 to 2. Moderate Failure. Scoring a Moderate Failure on a roll means that you definitely want to quit while you are ahead, and that the Alder can now impose a minor Narrative of Combat penalty on your wanderer.
1. Major Failure. You are completely inable of completing the goal you set out when scoring a Major Failure on a roll, and now something worse is going to happen. Work with your Alder to come up with an according consequence.
